บทคัดย่อ

A five-year retrospective study of patients with foreign bodies in the nasal cavity of Maesot hospital during July 1990 to June 1995 revealed 78 cases that were removed by the reporter. Most of those patients or 76 cases are children in the age group of 1 to 6 years. The most common foreign bodies are seeds. Two patiens are adult who came with the problem of having a leech in the nasal cavity for more than two months.

This report will introduce an application technique step by step by modifying and making new instruments for removing the foreign bodies from the nasal cavity safely and smoothly. Using the therapeutic otoscope for precise diagnosis, the foreign bodies can be devided into three groups depending on the shape of them. The first one can be removed by ear suction tip that modified from injection needles no. 14. The second group use alligator ear forceps. The third group have to be removed by nasal hook that made from bone wire no. 18. The result of all cases are good to excellent. The detail of therapeutic procedures are discussed.
