บทคัดย่อ

          A retrospective study of 656 admitted patients of fever to the Medical Department of Damneonsaduak hospital in 1993 was carried out under strickly defined criteria for hospital chart analysis. The study revealed that 79.12% (519 cases) of patients were from infections, 9.60% (63 cases) from underlying diseases, 10.98% (72 cases) from undetermine etiology. Stratify analysis of infections revealed that the cases were baterial infections (81.69%), viral infections (14.84%), parasitic infections (3.47%). The most four common causes of bacterial infections were urinary tract infections, infective diarrhea, tuberculosis, enteric fever respectively. The top four viral infections were upper respiratory tract infections, influenza, dengue haemorrhagic fever and hepatitis respectively. The causes of parasitic infection were malaria and amoebic liver abscess. Malignancy is the most common underlying condition for fever undetermine etiology.
