This is the descriptive retrospective study with the purpose of 1: ) To report the experience of using nonstress test (NST) in pregnancies. 2)  To assess the fetal wellbeing in high risk pregnancies.  The data were collected during January 1985 to December 1990 in Nakornpathom Hospital. The total NST  were performed in 901 pregnants whose deliveries were within 7 days after the last NST were established. The report of NST was reactive normal for 870 cases (96.56%), and non – reactive or abnormal for 31 cases (3.44%). In abnormal group the oxytocin challenge test (OCT) were carried  on and  revealed  that 13 of 31 cases were abnormal (41.94%). The reactive NST group had the perinatal mortality rate 2.3 : 1,000 of livebirth (0.23%), and interestingly all stillbirths were of preeclampsia mothers. The  perinatal mortality was 32 : 1000 of livebirth  in non-reactive NST group whose rate of abdominal delivery and fetal distress were higher with a statistical significance (p<0.005 and p<0.05 respectively). This study is comparable to other reports, so it is justifiable to conclude that the assessment of fetal wellbeing by means of NST method is useful especially in high risk pregnancies, the fetal distress condition could by  very well evaluated.
