Abstract

Objective: To study factors influencing success of utilizing the Out-patient electronic prescribing of Department of Pediatrics, Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital, the satisfaction of out-patient doctor and the comment from users when this program is performed.

Methods:  103 residents and fellows of Department of Pediatrics, Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital in the year 2008 answered the questionnaires.

Results: The success factors for utilizing the out- patient doctor order online are the knowledge, skills and experiences in applying the computer system of our users. The good quality of computer system, sufficient personals and machines play a key role. The users agree that the most satisfy in out-patient doctor order online is increasing in the quality of work and also decreasing the man power, the quantity of paper works. The suggestions of our users want to see the flexibility of the software during ordering, the easier and lesser steps for doing their jobs, the more simple process to make them easier to understand how to order and the more rapid network system.

Conclusion: Successful of utilizing the Out-patient electronic prescribing software requires a team effort and effective leadership. Ultimately the success of the project belongs to the out patient doctor, the end-users, who are using it satisfactorily.
