A Study of Herbal Folk Medicine Wisdom to Treat the Flu: Case Study of Mr. Jitr Boonluang, Wang Wiset District, Trang Province

The objective of this research study was to describe the use of traditional herbs and methods to treat the fever of Dr. Chit Boonleang. We conducted a qualitative study using in-depth interviews and observation using a camera recording of movies and still images. We also used a voice recorder to collect information during the in-depth interviews. We found that the treatment of Dr. Jit’s fever focused on taking the history of the patient's initial symptoms. His medical providers also conducted a physical examination by looking at his tongue, eyes, tip of his hand, and taking his pulse to analyze his symptoms. The drugs used by Dr. Jit included a single blessing with all 5 panai, which were boiled and eaten 3 times, and then poured out. Do not overeat. For the drug recipe, Dr. Jit used the five root drug recipes, which cost 2 baht each, and nourished the heart by adding all 5 pollen, 50 satang, and additional things. In addition, there are also many recipes for the treatment of fever, such as antipyretic drugs, fever medicine, and antipyretic drug for measles. There is also a remedy for malaria which is a medicines containing cutting of roots for fever.
