This research and development aims to develop a teaching model using a manual for teaching the importance of pain management. Sample groups were 32 students in the second year of Thai Traditional Medicine program and 6 instructors. The tools used were group discussion questions and questionnaires.
Results 1) From the group discussion, it was found that the participants wanted to have instruction in assessment and pain management according to the framework of Recognize Assess Treatment Model (RAT Model), and this teaching manual would be useful for students’ future work. 2) Knowledge before using the teaching style using the manual had a mean of 12.84 ± 2.14 and after using the manual teaching model the mean was 16.78 ± 1.95.The students had a significantly higher mean score of knowledge with p-value <0.05 than before manual teaching style. 3) It was also found that the satisfaction assessment of the teaching style in all aspects were at a higher level (= 4.24 ± 0.52). The results of the study reveal that, the effectiveness of the teaching style by using the manual had E1/E2 values of 80.00/82.00 and Effectiveness Index (E.I.) was equal to 0.55, so the teaching style using this developed manual should be used for teaching the assessment and pain management in Midwifery for Thai Traditional Medicine.
