Abstract

This study aims to evaluate and compare the knowledge about prediabetes amongst prediabetes and non-prediabetes adults who were receiving proactive health checkups in Sungaikolok Hospital. Methodology: The participants of this study was the adults who received proactive health checkups in Sungaikolok Hospital in Fiscal Year 2020 by using questionnaire interviews. We collected the data in June 2022. Results: The study participants were consisted of 55 prediabetes and 55 non-prediabetes adults. The study showed that, out of the total 13 scores, each of the two groups have average knowledge about prediabetes of 6.80±2.32 and 6.16±2.69 scores, respectively. When comparing the scores between two sample groups, it showed that only in the topic of prediabetes’ definition, the sample group of prediabetes adults have statistically significant higher scores than the sample group of non-prediabetes adults (P<0.05), but the overall score was not significantly different. Conclusion: People with prediabetes should have more knowledge about prediabetes than others in order to delay the progression of diabetes in the future by providing prediabetes education for people with prediabetes as a small group in proactive health checkup clinics.
