Abstract

This research was a quasi-experimental aimed to study the effectiveness of Thai hermit exercise program on blood pressure level in hypertension patients: A Pilot area of Praboromarajchanok Institute model at Sirindhorn College of Public Health, Phitsanulok. The sample were 30 hypertensive patients, was calculated using G Power software with simple random sampling. The exercise program consisted of 15 poses performed for 15-20 minutes per day continuously for 21 days. Data analysis included descriptive statistics and paired samples t-test.

The study found that the knowledge level after participating in the Thai hermit exercise program (𝑥̅±S.D.=7.93±1.38) was significantly higher, compared to before participation, which mostly remained at a moderate level (𝑥̅±S.D.=6.13±0.81), with a statistically significant difference at a level of P-value < .001. Attitude after participating program (𝑥̅±S.D.=13.33±1.03) was significantly higher than before (𝑥̅±S.D.=10.47±1.04), with a statistically significant difference at a level of P-value < .001. Behavior after participating program (𝑥̅±S.D.= 9.60±2.15) was significantly higher than before (𝑥̅±S.D.= 6.47±1.73), with a statistically significant difference at a level of P-value < .001. Furthermore, the Systolic blood pressure after participating program was significantly better than before, with a statistically significant difference at a level of P-value = .023. The Diastolic blood pressure after participating program was also significantly better than before, with a statistically significant difference at a level of P-value < .001. The study's results indicate that exercise with Thai hermit exercise can be used in activities to reduce blood pressure in hypertensive patients and other at-risk groups.
