Abstract

The objective of this quasi-experimental research was to study the effectiveness of integrating the teaching of academic services to develop ethical behaviors in nursing students and compare ethical behaviors between before and after the activity. This study was conducted through 156 nursing students from Boromarajonani College of Nursing Buddhachinaraj by purposive sampling. The data were collected using ethics behavior questionnaires for before and after the activity. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics comprising percentage, mean, standard deviation, and paired t-test.

The results show that the overall scores of the ethical behaviors of nursing students were very good and ethical behaviors were statistically significant better than those before the program ( gif.latex?\bar{X}= 3.37, S.D = 0.37, gif.latex?\bar{X}= 3.72 S.D = 0.25, respectively) (p < .001).

The finding of this study concluded that the integrated teaching method using community academic service can improve ethics behavior in nursing students especially the acceptance of their actions in responsibility because the students were assigned to prepare the activities and work with real situations. Moreover, the activity of summarizing was done by reflective thinking. Hence, learning by doing is the best practice for better changing behavior and developing the desired behavior in nursing students.
