Evaluation of Alcohol Control Measures in Schools and Nearby Areas

The objective of this research is to evaluate alcohol control measures in schools and nearby areas. The research sample consisted of educational institution administrators, teachers, junior high school students, and high school students from schools in different regions across Thailand. 2,000 people and informants included administrators of the Secondary Educational Service Area Office, school administrators, and 10 experts. The tools used in the research consisted of evaluation forms for alcohol control measures in schools and nearby areas and a focus group. The results of the instrument quality examination were carried out by checking content validity with IOC values ranging from .80-1.00 and determining the reliability of measurement trials (CITC and CAID) at .87 and .86, respectively. The implementation of alcohol control measures in schools and nearby areas consisted of six components: 1) school policy, 2) management in educational institutions, 3) setting up the school environment, 4) insertion in teaching and extracurricular activities, 5) student participation and assisting students to stop drinking alcohol, and 6) school-community participation. The results of the research were as follows:All components were found to be effective alcohol control measures in schools and nearby areas.
