Factors related to diabetic-retinopathy in diabetes patients Chiangkham Hospital Chiangkham District, Phayao Province

Abstract

              This objectives of study were to study factors related to diabetic-retinopathy in diabetes patients who follow up in Chiangkham Hospital. It was Cross-sectional study. Data were collected from diabetes patients which had to check eyes and meet abnormality. Purposive random sampling 148 diabetes patients from January 1, 2010 to May 30, 2010. Using descriptive statistics in term of amount, percentage, means, standard-deviation, and stepwise multiple regression. The result of the study found that the majority of patients with diabetic-retinopathy was female(75.5%), age between 46-66 year(65.5%), period of time that was the Diabetes during 5 year and less than(66.2%), had value of blood sugar during 135 mg/dl and less than(60.8%). Only significant factor related to diabetic-retinopathy was Haemoglobin A1C(HbA1c, P-value < 0.001 ). Non significant factor related to diabetic-retinopathy was gender, age, the period of time that is the Diabetes, blood pressure level, blood sugar level, cholesterol level, triglyceride level, HDL and LDL From the result of this study, 1) Should promote better understanding the complications of diabetes patient and have changing behavior are appropriate both of exercise, food, eating medicine and checking follow a doctor appointment. 2) Should promote better checking eyes always, for prevention from complications.
