Test-retest reliability of Thai Mini Nutritional Assessment used by Volunteers in Community Setting

Malnutrition is a common problem in older patients. Early detection of malnutrition is important in Family Practice. The Mini-Nutritional Assessment(MNA) test had been used for nutritional assessment in many countries. Thepurpose of the study was to evaluate reliability of Thai-MNA using test-retest method. 39 older Thais were purposive sampled and were assessed by volunteers using Thai-MNA 2 times, 1month apart. Also, serum albumins were collected twice. First Cronbach’s Alpha Coefficient was 0.501 and the second was 0.507. Only item 1 to 3 of 18 had Kappa Coefficient > 0.5. We recommended Thai-MNA only for screening due to lacking of reliability evidence.
