The Roles Family Members in Caring of tuberculosis in Doilow District, Chiang Mai Province

Abstract

       The purpose of this study was to describe the roles of family members in caring of Tuberculosis patient in term of medical and nursing, psychological and socio- economic care. Seventy two subject s were selected by purposive sampling from family members who were stayed in Doilow hospital. Data were collected by interview, observation and focus group discussion. Data were analyzed by descriptive statistics.

         The results showed that total mean score of the roles of family members in caring of Tuberculosis patients fell into low expected level (68.08 percents). It was found that the roles of family members in medical and nursing care at low expected level (63.62 percents). It was found that the role of family members in psychological care and social care were at into fair level, with an average score of 72.92 and 74.50 percents respectively. It was also found that the economic care fell into high expected level, with an average score of 83.33 percents.
