The Behavior Causing Helminthiasis in Primary School Students: A Case Study SriphotharamSchool, Sarapee District, Chiang Mai Province

Abstract

              The objective was to study the health behavior of the elementary students. The samples were 56 students in Prathomsuksa 4 – 6. Analyzed data by frequency, percentage, mean, standard deviation, t-test, Chi-square test, and Pearson Correlation Coefficient. The study was done during June to November, 2009. The results were as follows: The knowledge of the students about the helminthiasis at high level 85.7% the attitudesand behaving about the prevention of helminthiasis was at high level 53.6% and 46.4 % respectively. The average knowledge increased with a statistically significant at the 0.01 level. Check the prevalence of helminthiasis by the method of Kato's thick smear, and seek the violence of helminthiasis, by the method of Modified Kato Katz, it showed that the point incidence rate of helminthiasis 16.1%, the hookworm disease was 10.7%, the liver fluke disease was 3.6 % and the taenia spp. disease was 1.8 %. The mean of eggs per gram of faeces had an average of 80.50 for the liver fluke, the hookworm were 69.00 and the taenia spp. were 46.00. The most severity of the hookworm, the liver fluke and the taenia spp. were at low level.
