Health status and blood data analysis of the elderly living with the family In Chiang Mai, Thailand

Abstract

            The objective of this research was to evaluate the health status and blood data analysis of the elderly living with their family in Chiang Mai, Thailand. The study associated with the NMS. Japan carried out on 180 elderly (males=43, females=65), at the Department of Family Medicine, Faculty of Medicine and Old Age club, Faculty of Nursing, Chiang Mai University, Chiang Mai, Thailand. The Chula Mental Test (CMT) was used to evaluate cognitive function and the Geriatric Depression Scale(GDS) was  used for depression. The study revealed that the ten most prevalent problems of the study elderly in were a visual acuity abnormality 94.4%, anemia 61.1% bone and joint disease  41.7% hypertension 37 cataracts  17.6% dental caries  12.96%  presbycusis  11.1% cardiovascular disease  8.3digestive system disease 7.4% and diabetes mellitus 6.5%. the prevalence of obesity, cognitive impairment, and depression were 12.0%, 18.5% and  10.2% respectively. The prevalence of  hypercholesterolemia, hyperbetalipoproteinemia and  hypertriglyceridemia were  50, 16.7 and 31.5% respectively. The mean values of  hemoglobin, FBS, total protein, AST, ALT ALP,LDH,BUN, creatinine, uric acid and amylase were 12.00+1.58,  97.19+23.38,  7.43+0.98,  2.362+14.75, 15.16+12.31, 231.50+80.87, 205.66+71.58, 15.77+5.31, 1.35+3.98 ,6.28+1.79 และ144.08+71.80, respectively. The study concluded that there were high prevalence of visual acuity abnormality, anemia, hyperlipiedemia, bone and joint disease, and hypertension of the elderly.
