The Clinical Significance of Atypical Squamous Cell of Undetermined Significance in Pap smear

Objective of this study is study the change of pap smear with Atypical squamous cell of undetermined significance (ASCUS) when patients are detected to re-examine” Examples is 111 Patients who detected abnormal pap smear with ASCUS at Sanpatong hospital during 1 January 2004 to 30 December 2007. All patients are 5436 persons” The number of patients who detected abnormal pap smear is 207 persons and with ASCUS is 111 persons” Follow up patients who detected abnormal pap smear with ASCUS in the first six month” The result shows that the of abnormality is 20 patients (18%) which are cervical carcinoma (CA) 4 patients (3.6%), ASCUS 5 patients (4.50%), Low grade squamous intraepithelial lesion (LSIL) 2 patients (1.8%) and High arcade squamous intraepithelial lesion (HSIL) 9 patients (8.11%) Even though the pap smear with ASCUS is not severe but there are also some traces of serious disease hidden so, the pap smear with ASCUS is very significant” and ever detected abnormal pap smear with ASCUS examples should be follow up to re- examine.
