The effectiveness of the Structure Health Education Programme for the Patients Receiving Nephrolithotomy and Ureterolithotomy in Nakornping Hospital , Chiang Mai Province

Abstract

          The study was quasi-experimental research had an objective to assess an effectiveness of and education package for the patients receiving surgical operation on renal and ureteral stone in Nakornping Hostital, Chiang Mai Province. The study applied a learning theory with and interpersonal health education to be the concept developing its activates. The population samples were 60 patients completed the operation and were divided into groups of 30 experimental subjects, and 30 control subjects. The experimental group received the health education package and the control group received the routine education as usual. Collection of the data conducted interview schedules before and after receiving the health education package. The data analysis used percentage distribution, arithmetic mean, standard deviation, student’s t-test. Paired samples t-test

     Finding showed comparative variables between the experimental and control groups where there were significant differences of the better knowledge of renal stone, health practice before and after the operation, and practice of post-operation rehabil9it6ation at home. The health education package is suitable for nurse in the renal surgical ward to prepare patients receiving an anesthetic major operation  in the Nephrolithotomy and Ureterolithotomy. The program can be utilized in other surgical operations. However, the program could be replicated to develop nursing effective task in the future.
