Hearing loss Among Central Supply Employees in Sanpatong Hospital, Chaing Mai Province

Abstract

         The purposes of this descriptive study was to determine the prevalence rate of noise-induced hearing loss, associated factors for noise-induced hearing loss and guideline to prevent noise-induced hearing loss in central supply employees in Sanpatong hospital, Chaing Mai province during June, 2008. The Subjects were 13 persons. Data was collected by audiometer and physical exam, including personal personal data and health status. Data were analyaed by descriptive statistics. The result of this study showed 53.8% (7/13) of NIHL. The mean age of these employees was 44.4 years. Female 71.43% Male 28.57% Lifetime working about ten years 71.43% (5/7). No hearing protection for 42.86%(3/7) Conclusions: Loud-placed worker should be educated about the hazards of noise and about preventive measure to preserve remaining hearing. The result of this study will be data base in further study to make guideline in planning, caring and prevent HIHL in loud-placed worker in the future.
