Behaviors and Intention to use a Safety Helmet of Motorcycle Donggen Witayakhom School Case study

Abstract

                The objective for this study was to explore the intention and behavior on wearing helmet of Phayao Technical College’s student who ride motorcycle the beliefs on health, the attitude towards wearing helmet, norms of reference groups in wearing helmet and the intention to wear helmet riding motorcycle. The analysis focused on the relation of demographic and social of study sample, the Condition of riding motorcycle, the beliefs on health, the attitude towards wearing helmet, norm of reference groups in wearing helmet, and the intention to wear helmet by Multiple regression analysis, and tested for significance by T value, finding correlation value of Pearson, tested for the relevant of the intention and behavior on wearing helmet by finding correlation statistic of Pearson, the research concluded that. The age of most students was between 15-25 years old (77.5%), male (81.5%), over 50% was those who controlling the ride and got themselves into accident 39.8% and not wearing helmet 92.0% The relevant factors of intention and behavior on wearing helmet of those who ride motorcycle but 47% was actually wear it. The analysis shown that factors which relevant to the intention on wearing helmet with statistically significance at 0.05 as prioritized by norms of reference groups, perception on risk chance for getting into accident and being arrested by police officer, age, male, and income. The correlation between the intention and behavior on wearing helmet had shown the contrast, students had high intention to wear helmet but less numbers was actually wore it while riding motorcycle.
