Preparedness of the Pre-Aging Population Entering an Aging Society, Mae Tha District, Lampang Province

The cross-sectional study aimed to explore factors relating to preparedness of pre-aging population to enter the aging society in Lampang province. The method of the study took data from an interview with a questionnaire from 245 samples aged between 55-59 years old in Pa Tan sub-district, Mae Ta district. Analysis of the data described statistically relationships of variables by Chi-square tests. Results of the study declared that readiness to the aging society engagement were in different levels of a high 24.49%, a moderate 47.35% and a low 28.16%. Factors of housing and social preparations were at high levels of 62.45% and 56.33%, respectively. While health and economic circumstances were in different levels of a moderate 44.08% and a low 55.51% respectively. Factors related to overall preparedness for the aging society at statistical significance (p-value<0.05) were the number of children raised, occupation, average monthly income, average monthly family income, and family savings. Suggested that the aged persons in the community should be encouraged to hold steady their incomes and savings, to maintain health status such as consume milk and good foods, checkup physical and oral health regularly, and keep a family tie peacefully when entering an older age.
