Quality of Life among Drug User after Matrix Model Therapy at Yasothon Provice

Abstract

The quality of life of drug users who received Matrix Model Therapy and the need for enhancing their life quality that could be planing and promote the quality of life for drug users who received Matrix Model Therapy.

Objective : To assess the quality of life of drug users who received Matrix Model Therapy and the need for enhancing their life.

Medthod : This descriptive study aimed to investigate quality of life of drug users who received Matrix Model Therapy in Yasothon Province. Simple random sampling was used to recruit 109 drug users who received the therapy. Data was collected from January to July 2015 using a questionnaire.

Results : revealed that participants’ average age was 35.8 years (S.D=9.89). Forty participants  (36.7%) were 30 – 39 years old, fifty three  (48.6%) were single, fifty seven  (52.3%) had only finished primary school and fifty three  (48.6%) were farmers. Seventy three (67%) participants had no supportive budget, sixty seven (53.2%) had income lower than 5,000 baht per month. Sixty nine of them (63.3%) had average income at 5,000 – 10,000 baht per month, ninety two  (84.4%) had no savings and forty five (41.2 %) had deposits from  100,001 to 150,000 baht, Sixty one  (56%) had no accommodation and sixty five (59.6%) had no jobs.  Total quality of life score for drug users who received Matrix Model Therapy was in the average range (x= 2.70, S.D. = 0.46).  Quality of life scores across the 4 scale dimensions,  physical, mental health, social relationships, and  environmental dimension were all  in  the average range (xˉ= 2.32, S.D. = 0.58; xˉ= 2.75, S.D. = 0.72; xˉ= 3.39, S.D. = 0.84; xˉ = 3.46, S.D. = 0.80).

In conclusion : The results of this study for basic information for Community nurses and community nurse practitioners could use the results of this study for promote quality of life for drug users who received Matrix Model Therapy and enhancing their life quality across the 4 scale dimensions, physical, mental health, social relationships, and  environmental dimension
