Abstract

Anemia in pregnancy is a major public health problem due to the higher mortality rate in pregnancy both during the ante and intrapartum periods. Aim of this study was to compare anemia in pregnancy treatments between Triferdine alone and Triferdine plus Ferrous Fumarate among pregnant women in Bueng Kan Hospital. This retrospective study collected data from the hospital’s medical record. The samples were divided into 2 groups of 41 patients in each group. The patient profiles, hemoglobin before and after the treatments, fetal weights, and Apgar scores were collected for analyses. The study period was between January 2010 and November 2022. The results showed that samples who received a combination of Triferdine and Ferrous Fumarate had a significantly higher hemoglobin difference than those who received Triferdine alone (p-value<0.05). The fetal outcome of combination drugs showed a higher trend of fetal weights and Apgar scores. This study can conclude that Triferdine and Ferrous Fumarate should be used in the anemic pregnancy (Hb 8-10 g/dL) for higher effectiveness in anemia treatment.
