Knowledge of Oral Health Care for Parents with Preschool Children in Ban KhaoSamoklang, Child Development Center in Wang Thong District, Phitsanulok Province

Abstract

           This descriptive research aims to study the personal factors of parents of pre-school children, Ban KhaoSamoklang, Thong District, Phitsanulok Province, which investigated the knowledge of Oral Health Care in parents with pre-school children in Ban KhaoSamoklang, Child Development Center at Wang Thong District, Phitsanulok Province. The samples were employed 39 parents of pre-school children collecting data by a questionnaire with reliability of 0.71, which analysed with percentage, mean and standard deviation.

           The results revealed into two sections: 1) Most parent were  female(82.05%), age between 20-29 years old (35.9%), Most working as labour job (38.46%), educated in secondary school (61.54%). 2) Parent has a mediated in oral health care (61.54%), particularly had highest in use of soft toothbrushes (97.44%), followed by toothbrushes (92.31%), will help maintain the gaps of the teeth. The percentage of children who drank milk from glass or carton was 92.31 percent (92.31%). And lowest score in root canal clearing, toothache at all times, root canal treatment (43.59%).

            The results suggested that the oral health care knowledge of parents was at a moderate level. Therefore, it should promote the exchange of oral health care for pre-school children with dental care. Including oral care education for preschool children continuously.
