This cross - sectional descriptive study aimed to study level of knowledge, attitude and oral health care behaviors related to caries status, relationship of personal information with knowledge, attitudes and oral health care behaviors and caries conditions and relationship between knowledge oral health care attitudes and behaviors and dental caries conditions in Orthodontic students Senior High School,Warin Chamrap District,Ubon Ratchathani Province. Two hundred were selected by stratified random sampling. Data were collected by dental health status examinations form and questionnaires regarding knowledge attitude and practice. The content validity of questionnaire was validated by the experts. The questionnaire regarding knowledge was assessed by Kuder– Richardson Formula 20 (KR-20), a value of the reliability was 0.70. The questionnaire regarding attitude and practice were tested by Cronbach’s alpha coefficient, a value of the reliability was 0.71 and 0.70, respectively. Data were analyzed by computer program included frequency, percentages, means and standard deviations.Chi-square and Pearson product moment correlations were analyzed.
The results of the study were as following: the most students had oral health care knowledge at a high level (86.00 %). Attitude and practice were at moderate levels (70.00%, 55.20%). Dental health status showed that the caries free of the permanent teeth were 8 % and the mean of DMFT accounted for 8.48 (teeth per person). Parent occupation there was a statistically significant relationship with the knowledge of oral health , gender, age, occupation, parents getting to have an oral health exam
and obtaining knowledge of oral health correlated with oral health attitudes statistically significant. The oral health care knowledge was significantly related to caries status (p – value = .014). Otherwise attitude and the oral health care behaviors was not significantly related (p-value > 0.05).
