The Impact of Coronavirus-disease 2019 Situation on Dental Services at Kranuan Crown Prince Hospital, Khon Kaen Province

Abstract

The objectives of this descriptive  study were to study the impact of the Coronavirus-disease 2019 situation on dental service and to study factors related to the impact of Coronavirus-disease 2019 situation on dental services at Kranuan crown prince hospital, Khon Kaen Province and Sub-district Health Promoting Hospital. The sample consisted of 17 dental care providers and 151 dental care recipients. Data were collected between 1 July to 24 August 2020 by using the survey form, questionnaire consists of general information and question about Coronavirus-disease 2019. ( knowledge ,impact and impact response.) Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics and Pearson Correlation coefficient.

            The results was found that dental care providers were female amounted 9 people (52.9%), aged 31-40 amounted 7 people (41.2%). Dental care recipients were female amounted 100 people (66.2%), aged 41-50 amounted 35 people (23.2%). Dental care providers had a high level of knowledge amounted 15 people (88.2%), followed by a moderate level amounted 2 people (11.1%). Dental care recipients had a moderate level of knowledge amounted 85 people (56.3%), followed by a high level amounted 34 people (32.5%) and the low level amounted 32 people (21.2%). Dental care providers were affected at the high level amounted 12 people (70.6%), followed by a moderate level amounted 5 people (29.4%). Dental care recipients were affected at the moderate level amounted 94 people (62.2%), followed by the low level amounted 41 people (27.2%) and high level amounted 16 people (10.6%). Dental care providers had impact response at high level amounted 13 people (76.5%), followed by a moderate level amounted 4 people (23.5%). Dental care recipients had impact response at high level amounted 77 people (51.0%), followed by a moderate level amounted 72 people (47.7%) and the low level amounted   2 people (1.3%). The relationship of the variables was found that the age of the dental care recipients  was significantly negatively associated with the impact of the Coronavirus-disease 2019 situation at the 0.05 level (r = - 0.22, p-value = 0.005) and the impact response of dental care recipients was significantly negatively associated with the impact of the Coronavirus-disease 2019 at 0.05 (r = - 0.31, p-value = 0.000).

            Suggestions from this research are that knowledge should be educated and improve confidence of dental services in Coronavirus-disease 2019 situation for dental care recipients,  about dental care providers which have high-level affected , personal protective equipment should be provided adequately to ensure the safety of infections protection.
