The pattern of oral health care for preschool children at Palan sub-district Payakkaphumpisai district Mahasarakam province

Abstract

            This action research aimed to study the underlying pattern of oral health care for preschool children. The sample of 30 participants as parents and networks at Palan subdistrict, Payakkaphumpisai district, Mahasaracham province. The sample should participate in learning activities according to technology of participation and the operation plan. Data were collected by questionnaire, a meeting/focus group discussion note-taking form and interview form, descriptive statistics were analyzed by frequency, percentage, mean, standard deviation. In addition, an inferential statistics as a paired samples t-test.

          The results showed that the pattern of oral health care for preschool children was arising from the participation of the community idea. Community parents and networks participating in the research had been involved in six stages of development: 1) study general situation and community participation 2) made a study trip at hospital visit 3) participatory action conference 4) implement a plan 5) evaluate the result of development process 6) conclusion of the result. The result showed that a mean score of participation of the parents and networks before and after the implementation had been increased significantly at (p<0.01) found that preschoolers have reduced the incidence of dental caries.

           In summary of the key success of this study was arising from the participation of the community idea, as the flag change tooth of the area that could be applied to development of similar areas.
