Abstract

Oral health education and oral health promotion are closely to one another. However, the principles and ultimate goals are different. Health professionals sometimes trap into oral health education designing oral programs as oral health promotion interventions but in fact they did not. They were only the variety pattern of the dental health education using the questionnaires to evaluate the knowledge. Over the past 20 years, it was evident that knowledge alone was not enough and did not sustain oral health. Oral health promotion focusing on creating supporting environments along with enabling people to take control over determinants of health is essential to develop and sustain oral health.
