The development of dental public health surveillance model in community: a case study in Ban NondangWarinchamrab District Ubonratchathani province

Abstract

          The dental health surveillance was the key process to control and prevent oral health problems. This research aimed to develop the dental public health model for the local community through stakeholders in the implementation included health care providers, the administrative of sub-district, the leader of the community and the village public health volunteers. The sample sized was employed 30 people. The tools used to collect research data was dental health care questionnaires knowledge of dental health care, the performance and participation in the surveillance dental community.Further analyzing data were using programs package as well as content analysis

          The results and findings revealed that the development of the new model for Dental Public Health Surveillance System in the local community were participated all steps with the surveillance mechanism by the village public health volunteers as the main role, through network and skills in the community to strengthen the existing mechanisms for the surveillance system increasing. The quantitative results were evolved dental health care knowledge, the performance and participation in the surveillance dental community more than before the development with statistically significant (p<0.05).

          In conclusion, the new model of the Dental Public Health Surveillance in the local community was necessary relying on the cooperation of all party involved the implementation process with the potential and the original capital of the existing mechanisms in the implementation of community surveillance. The resulting system was more appropriate to the context of the community.
