Dental health care behavior survey of parents of pre-school children in Sirindhorn College of Public Health Khon Kaen Daycare Center

Abstract

           The purposes of this research were to study dental health care behavior of both pre-school children and their parents. The sample used were 55 pre-school children and their parents at Daycare of Sirindhorn Public Health College Khon Kaen Province. The tools used consisted of qualitative and descriptive statistics. The procedure comprised collection data from October 2010 to September2011, the first oral examination surveys for 55 pre-school children were the previous data and then sent the results to their parents the second oral examination surveys has been 6 months later which were the after data and used the observation behavior form for their parents perceptions. Statistics which used to analyze the data were Frequency, Percentage and Pearson productmoment correlation coefficient of dental health care behaviors both of pre-school children and their parents. The results were concluded as follows (1) 84.40 % tooth brushing by their mothers (2) 96.9% use the fitting proper tooth brush and (3) 58.10 % tooth brushing twice a day but dental carries in deciduous teeth and the frequency of consumption behavior were insignificant.

          The study suggests that dental health service programs in modern communities should be implemented with co-operations of dental health workers and parents in order to create a new dental health balance.
