The needs for students’ activities in Boromrajonnani college of nursing Nakhon Ratchasima,s nursing student

The purpose of this research was to study and compare the need of participation in students’ activities among nursing students at the Boromarajonani College of Nursing Nakhonratchasima, and to observe the problems in the school activities. Samples were derived by means of a stratified random sampling.There were 247 nursing students, from the first year to the fourth year at the Boromarajonani College of Nursing (BCNNM) Nakhonratchasima, in the 2009 academic year and a questionnaire was used to collect data. The reliability of questionnaire was 0.80, after that data were analyzed by descriptive statistic.
The findings of the study were as follows: The need for participation in student activities amongst nursing students were at a high level in overall and each dimensions of need for participation. The differences for each academic year level in the need for participation in student activities both in overall and each dimensions of need for participation were significantly different at the statistic level of 0.05. The overall need for participation of first yearstudents was higher than that of second year students , and the overall need for participation of fourth year students was higher than that of second year students. The level of problems arising from participation in student activities among nursing student was average. The most common problem affecting participation in student activities was: unwillingness to participate in activities due to fatigue from study load. Other problems included: the frequency of activities was too high, uninteresting types of activities , and the time of the activity is not suitable. The suggested solutions from the student included: the college should reduce the quantity of student activities but choose only interesting and worthwhile activities, advertise aims and details of each activities for students beforehand , not set activities on holidays or during classes, and ask students for their needs before setting up the activity.
