Attitude and Achievement of the students’ integrated approaches in Diplomatic program of Public Health (Dental Public Health) about Preventive Dentistry subject at Sirindhorn College of Public Health, Khon Kaen Province

Abstract

          This study was conducted by surveying the attitude and the achievement of integrated approached learning of students in Diplomatic program of Public Health (Dental Public Health) at Sirindhorn College of Public Health, Khon Kaen Province. Methods of integrated teaching were focused on the Performance-based learning with professional knowledge that had never been taught before. The child-centered format of teaching was applied for designation of learning activities. Evaluative methods and models can be applied in various subjects in order to reduce the duplication of contents and burdens of students.

          The results were showed that 57 / 65 students (82.61%) replied the questionnaires. The data revealed that an average satisfaction of integrated teaching in preventive dentistry was 4.39 (S.D. = 0.64) which means they had positive attitude in Preventive Dentistry. The achievement of the students were analyzing by T-Score statistical method dividing into 5 levels : A, B +, B, C + and C. The majority students got B + in 22 (33.85%), A and C in amount of 7 (10.77%), 17 students got B (26.15%) and 12 students got C + (18.46%), no one fail in the subject.

          The result in Open-ended questionnaire found that the majority of students satisfied. Their attitude about this subject was tend to be attractive, interesting and exciting. Moreover, lecturer can simplify the complexities into easier way to comprehend due to various of learning stuffs and students can also adapt their abilities into practical work on their fields confidentially.
