The development of miniature dentist to monitor dental caries in the students’ permanent teeth at Bansokseawsansuk School, Huayjod Subdistrict, Kranuan District, Khon Kaen Province

Abstract

          The purpose of this action research was to study the developmentof miniature dentist to monitor dental caries in the students’ permanent teeth at Bansokseawsansuk School, Huayjod Subdistrict, Kranuan District, Khon Kaen Province. The samples were 30-Grade 6 students selected by the purposive sampling. The data collection included the quantitative data which were collected by the questionnaires and the qualitative data that were obtained by observing, group conversation in-depth interviews, Data were analyzed using the content and the descriptive analysis such as frequency, percentage, mean and standard deviation.

           The results showed that the development of miniature dentist to monitor the dental caries in the students’ permanent teeth at Bansokseawsansuk School consisted of: 1) the discussion about the problem of dental health, the action plan 2) the plan for the action by organizing activities in school 3) the interview of knowledge and understanding and behavioral observation with regard to the activity participation and monitoring the dental caries in permanent teeth 4) Following and evaluation of the implementation.  After all processes completed, it was found that the sample developed the monitoring system of dental caries.

            The level of participation in monitoring the dental caries in permanent teeth of students was higher than before the operation with the statistical significance (p - value <0.05). Regarding the activity which the researcher constructed the samples involved in every step comprised thinking, planning, performing, evaluation, and getting benefit. The small conversation group allowed an opportunity to share their inquiries, suggestions and knowledge.
