Factors Related to the Dental Treatment Receiving in Pregnancy Kamalasai District, Kalasin Province

Abstract

This cross-sectional analytical study aimed to test the factors associated with the utilization of dental services among 126 pregnancy women in Kamalasai hospital, Kamalasai district, Kalasin province. Data were collected using a self-reported questionnaire that the content validity was 0.86 and the Cronbach Alpha coefficient was between 0.71-0.84. Descriptive statistics were used to describe demographic data whereas Inferential statistics including Chi-Square and Fisher’s Exact Test were used to test the factors related to dental visits of pregnant women. The study found that majority of the subjects (77.8%) aged >20 to 35 years old. Mean age was 25.88 ± 5.34 years. The prevalence of dental service utilization was 79.37%. The results showed that pregnant women who flossed (84.2%) were 3.54 times more likely to receive dental services than pregnant women who did not floss (15.8%) (OR = 3.54, 95% CI: 1.35-9.27, p-value = 0.008), Factors of understanding and satisfaction with high-level dental services (87.0%) were 2.83 times more likely to attend dental services than pregnant women with low to moderate understanding and satisfaction with dental services (70.2%), (OR = 2.83, 95%CI: 1.15-6.98, p-value = 0.021).
