Motivation and Key Success Factors Affecting the Organizational Commitment of Dental Health Personnel in Roi Et Province

Abstract

     This cross-sectional descriptive research aimed to study the motivation and key success factors affecting the organizational commitment of dental health personnel in Roi Et province, Thailand. The samples were 138 dental health personnels randomly selected by stratified random sampling technique from 183 populations. Data were collected by the questionnaire for the quantitative data and in-depth interview guidelines for the qualitative data gathering from 12 key informants. The questionnaire was examined and was verified by three experts for content validity with items objective congruence (IOC). All items of the questionnaire were more than 0.50 and reliability of the scale with Cronbach’s alpha coefficient was 0.95. Data were collected between 13th December 2022 to 13th January 2023. Data analyses were performed by descriptive and inferential statistics at a significant level of 0.05.

     The results showed that the overall of motivation, key success factors and the organizational commitment of dental health personnel were at high level with averages of 4.04 (S.D.=0.44), 4.02 (S.D.=0.53) and 4.04 (S.D. =0.64) respectively. The overall motivation and key success factors had significant strong and moderate relationships with the organizational commitment of dental health personnel in Roi Et province (r =0.712, p-value<0.001 and r =0.644, p-value<0.001, respectively). The results found that four variables consisted of one variable of key success factors; connection between line of service and network and three variables of motivation; supportive professional status, working condition and achievement affected and could jointly predict the organizational commitment of dental health personnel in Roi Et province at 58.6 percent (R2=0.586, p-value<0.001).
