Abstract

Dermatomyositis is one of idiopathic inflammatory myopathy that has characteristic cutaneous manifestations. Edema is atypical manifestation of the disease. On the other hand, tumid lupus erythematosus (LE) is a subtype of chronic cutaneous LE in which only minority of cases develop systemic involvements. Co-existing of tumid LE with connective tissue diseases other than SLE has never been reported. We herein describe a case of generalized edematous dermatomyositis preceding by tumid LE.
