Comparative study of the efficacy and side effects of Curcuma longa cream with 0.05%Clobetasol propionate cream and 0.1%Betamethasone valerate cream to treat pruritic papular eruption in HIV/AIDS patients

Clinical trail to evaluate the efficacy and side effects of Curcuma longa cream for the treatment of pruritic papular eruption in HIV/AIDS patients compared with 0.05% clobetasol propionate cream and 0.1% betamethasone valerate cream was conducted. The total number of HIV/AIDS patients in the study was 41 subjects, 22 males and 19 females, which were divided into 2 groups. The 23 cases of experimental group were treated with Curcuma longa cream and 18 cases of control group were treated with 0.05% clobetasol propionate cream and 0.1% betamethasone valerate cream. Clinical evaluation on day 7 and day 14 after treatment, most of the patients in both groups did not have any side effects. When the clinical results of Curcuma longa cream group were compared with 0.05% clobetasol propionate cream and 0.1% betamethasone valerate cream group, We found that the degree of pruritic symptom were not different between the two groups on day 0, day 7and day 14. The change of erythematous papules was not different on day 7 and day 14. In conclusion, Curcuma longa cream had the efficacy equivalent to 0.05% clobetasol propionate cream and 0.1% betamethasone valerate cream.
