Abstract

In recent years, the molecular defects causing many types of genodermatoses have been discovered. The affected genes encode a variety of protein. The effect of gene mutation causes defect of protein synthesis, which may underlie skin fragility. We review herein some biological aspects of those proteins, and propose a novel classification scheme based upon the molecular structures underlying the keratinizing disorder discussed.
