Effectiveness of developing nursing student leaders’ competency in modern media creation for tobacco control

Abstract
This quasi-experimental research aimed to study the effectiveness of developing nursing student leaders' competency in modern media creation for tobacco control. A sample of 79 nursing student leaders in the nursing student club of Smoke-Free Thai Society, was purposively selected. Research tools include 1) a program for competency development in modern media creation for tobacco control, 2) competency assessment tool in modern media creation for tobacco control, and 3) a satisfaction assessment for participating in activities. The results of the research found that nursing student leaders’ competency in creating modern media for tobacco control was significantly higher than before the experiment (p < .05). Satisfaction in participating in activities of nursing student leaders was at a high level (M = 4.13, SD = 0.662).
