บทคัดย่อ

According to the retrospective study of perinatal mortality in Photharam hospital from October 2004 to September 2007, the perinatal mortality rate was 7.33 per 1,000 total births. The rate in the 3 years increased each year (5.1, 7.3 and 9.6 per 1,000 total births respectively). The major cause of perinatal mortality was macerated stillbirth (46.0%). The other causes of death were congenital malformations (18.9%), asphyxia conditions developing in labour (13.5%) and condition associated preterm birth (10.8%) which was equal to the specific conditions. Birth asphyxia which was preventable was on decrease trend. Improvement of antenatal care, early detection of high risk pregnancy group, proper management in labour room, availability of newborn resuscitation team and analysis ot unexpected incidence including the solution from multidisciplinary team (Patient Care Team) would reduce the perinatal mortality and increase safety for mother and child.
