บทคัดย่อ

This research was a quasi-experiment. The aims was to study pain—relieving effects of herbal compression in osteoarthritis patient, compare the effectiveness of pain relief, interval of pain and difficulty in activity, by three different methods, namely herbal compression, conventional hot compress and isometric exercise. Subjects in this research were osteoarthritis patients that treated at Damnoensaduak hospital for 5 days. A guestionaire was created to assess pain level before and after the treatment for Visual Analog Scale. The information obtained was analysed using frequency, percentage, mean, t-test and One-way Analysis of Covariance.

The results was as follow. The score of knee pain and difficulty in activity in patients received treatment of the three different methods were less than that before receiving the treatment with statistic significance of 0.01. The score of knee pain and difficulty in activity were not different with statistic significance between the three methods but the mean score decreased mostly in patients, who received herbal compression at the first and second day with statistic significance of 0.01. lt was suggested that the results of this research might be useful in Thai Traditional Medicine with herbal compression on the first and second day for reduction of inflammation.
