The Performance Development Model in Promoting of Critical Thinking for Heath Supervisors in Health Region 5

Abstract

Objective: The purposes of research are to study and develop a model in promoting of the critical thinking for heath supervisors in Health Region 5.

Methods: Thirty health supervisors were used as samples for this research. This research used two tools; the first one was authentic learning in practical experiments for inspection tour. The other one was evaluating tool, the critical thinking test. The results were analyzed from these two tools in terms of critical thinking.

Results: The results of the critical thinking with five dimensions questionnaire showed critical thinking of supervisors in excellent level at 13.33 percent, good level at 56.67 percent, and moderate level at 26.67 percent, poor level at 3.33 percent, respectively. Since the authentic learning was targeting at learners by keeping independence and promoted critical thinking to improve skills, activities, thinking process, analysis, synthesis and evaluation. These processes of thinking could summarize concepts and understand new knowledge in the learning process. In these processes the supervisors could discuss and exchange knowledge, skills and experience to form a new critical thinking knowledge.

Conclusion: The authentic learning process can be used for improving heath supervisors and candidates for health inspection.
