A Food Poisoning Outbreak in a Child Protection Foundation, Amphawa District, Samutsongkram, June 2008

Abstract

On June 23, 2008 Amphawa Public Health Office was reported from Amphawa Hospital that they found 6 food poisoning patients whose the child in Child Protection Foundation Moo 7, Tambon Suanluang, Amphawa district, Samutsongkram. The Surveillance and rapid response team (SRRT) of Amphawa district went to investigate and control disease on June 23-24, 2008. The objectives is to confirm the outbreak of disease, search for the cause and control the outbreak. The descriptive statistics study used data from interviewing the patients, the caregivers and the child in the foundation. We collected stool, food and drinking water samples to workup at Somdetphrapautthalerrtla Hospital and Samutsongkram Medical Sciences Center. The result revealed that the coconut dessert was the cause of this outbreak.
