110 Patients with Transurethral Prostatectomy in Chaophrayayommarat Hospital

Abstract

This is a retrospective study by reviewing medical records of 110 patients who had benign prostatehypertrophy and unden1ventTransurethral Prostatectomy (TURP) between July 2006 - June 2009 at Chaophrayayomraj Hospital, Suphanburi Province.

To study demographic data of the patients, indication of surgery, preoperative and postoperative Lower Urinary Tract Symptom ( LUTS), intraoperative and postoperative complication, outcome of surgery and patho- logical reports. The study showed that most of the patients (93.6%) improved their LUTS after TURP and most of them (73.6%) had no postoperative complication. No mortality from surgery was found. The pathological study of prostate showed adenocarcinoma in 15 patients (13.6%) and most of them were in advance stage.
