Labor Pain : Risk Factor and Pregnancy Outcome

Abstract

Objective : To evaluate factor associated with labor pain. Effect of pain to labor time and fetus

Designs : Cross-sectional study

Setting : Data from parturient 15 Nov 2008- 15 Feb 2009.Singleton, GA ≥ 34 weeks, no Medical and Obstetrics complication

Methods : Pain was evaluated after delivery with Wong- Baker - FACES pain rating scale.

Result : Primipara, Vacuum extraction, Syntocinon induction, Pethidine were associated with severe labor pain. Severe labor pain was effect to prolong labor time but no relation to APGAR score and meconium stain amniotic fluid.

Conclusion : Most parturient suffer from intense pain during labor and analgesia insufficiency. Severe labor pain may be sign of Obstetrics complication abruption placenta, rupture uterus. severe labor pain during labor should be care as high risk pregnancy.
