Abstract

This retrospective analytic study of 67 pregnant women with preeclampsia revealed 7.1 per 1,000 deliveries the prevalence of preeclampsia. The complicated preeclampsia was found in 23 cases, equivalent to 2.4 per 1,000 deliveries. Eclampsia was the most complication and followed by HELLP syndrome respectively.

Studying the correlation of general and laboratory factors found that the first pregnancy, the nonstandardized antenatal care, the preeclampsia started before 31 weeks gestational age, proteinuria greater than or equal to +3, white blood cell count greater than or equal to 15,000 cells/mm3 and uric acid greater than or equal to 6.1 mg/dl were the risk factors that resulted in complicated preeclampsia significantly. Other factors such as maternal race, age, number of child, fetal sex and other maternal medical diseases were not the risk factors of complicated preeclampsia

Suggestion: Using the result to make the preeclampsia guideline in order to increase the maternal and child health care in Kanchanaburi.
