Abstract

This quasi-experimental prospective study aimed to study the effectiveness of temperature control program that incorporated the use of warm green bean pad in controlling the newborn body temperature during weighing compared to conventional program. The purposive sample consisted of 30 newborn who admitted at pediatric intensive care unit, Nakhonpathom Hospital. The subjects were assigned for two procedures of temperature control during weighing. The first was controlled by radiant warmer and warm diaper ; the later was added warm green bean pad. The results indicated that the mean body temperature at the period of warm green bean pad use is higher than the period of the conventional program significantly (p < 0.000). So the use of warm green bean pad in temperature control program is more effective than conventional program for newborn weighing.
