Abstract

Total Hip Arthroplasty is a major Orthopaedic operation, this operation had been performed in nearly a century. Nowadays, this operation had been developed in prosthetic material, surgical approach but still have many complications and still challenging to improve outcome (function and survivor). This prospective study is to compare the results of treatment between anterior approach (performed in Paholponpayuhasena Hospital) and posterior approach (Stanford teaching center hospital, California, USA). Which compare intraoperative outcome (operative time, blood loss, periprostatic fracture), functional outcome (postoperative Harris hip score, visual analogue scale (VAS), limb length descrepancy), clinical outcome and economic outcome. We found that anterior approach have advantage in lower dislocation rate, make rapid retum to work, While posterior approach have advantage in short operative time and short hospital stay.
