Factors Affecting Adverse Drug Reaction of Acne Preparation in Teenager in Nakhonpathom Province

Abstract

The main objective of this study aimed at the factors affecting the adverse reaction resulting from using acne preparations. The study group of 303 adolescence, aged thirteen to nineteen and found to use acne preparations within the past 1 year prior to the conducting of this study, were interviewed by questionnaire lt was found that mode of the study group were average age of 16.5, S.D. = 1.9 and 78.2% were female. The 49.5% had the highest education level of high school grade. 80.5% had no allergic rhinitis profile. 89.1% had no drug allergy profile. 86.8% had no profile on phytoallergy or allergy to sea food or insects. Most Of the active ingredients functioned as emcllient e.g vitamin E etc. and antibacterial substance e.g Triclocarban etc and used by 55.5%. 81.7% used the products specifically for facial treatment. 64.0% were found at least one adverse reaction. The findings of this study indicated that education level, drug allergy profile, active ingre dients, labelled informations and area of application related to the occurrence of adverse reaction caused by the acne preparation. (p-value < 0.05)
