The Effects of Clinical Nursing Practice Guideline with DVD for Self-care Preparation of Elderly Cataract Surgery Patients in Nakhonpathom Hospital

Abstract

The purpose of this quasi experimental study was to explore about the effects of clinical nursing practice guidelines for self-care preparation of elderly cataract surgical patients and their caregivers. The study was conducted in elderly cataract patients and their caregivers, who were admit for cataract surgery at Ophthalmology lnpatient Division in Nakhonpathom hospital. The samples were divided into two groups. The control group received self-care preparation with usual cataract clinical nursing practice guidelines by face-to-face education, the experimental group received with Digital Video Discs. The result of the study were that, patient’s knowledge, satisfaction and post·operative endopthalmitis incidence of the two groups was not significantly different.
