The Effects of Qi Gong, Damnoen Stick Exercise and Healthy Food on Blood Lipid Level in Personnel of Damnoensaduak Hospital

Abstract

     This quasi experimental research, aims to study the effects of Qi Gong, Damnoen stick exercise and healthy food on blood lipid level of Damnoensaduak hospital personnel. The outcomes were the levels of cholesterol, triglyceride, HDL and LDL compared between the control and experimental groups after 6 and 12 weeks of implementation. The samples included 33 cases for each group. Inclusion criteria was blood cholesterol level over 200 mg / dL for three consecutive years: 2006, 2007 and 2008. The subjects were assigned randomly to 2 groups. The data was analyzed using one-way analysis of covariance.

     The results showed that after 6- week implementation ; cholesterol, triglyceride, HDL and LDL levels were not different between two groups. But after 12 - week implementation; cholesterol and triglyceride levels were statistical significantly lower than in the experimental group statistical significantly at the .05 level. The HDL and LDL levels were not significantly different.
